On Monday, March 4, the collection achieved another noteworthy milestone as NodeMonke #2769 was sold for 17 BTC. This marked the first instance of one of the inscriptions being traded for over a million dollars.
NodeMonkes consists of 10,000 Bitcoin Ordinals inscriptions, featuring distinct characters in 28×28 pixel images. While the collection was initially created in February 2023, developers waited until December to unveil it to the public.
This 10-month delay allowed for the Ordinals ecosystem to mature. Moreover, in a community that appreciates older block stamps, being the first 10,000-count profile picture collection on Bitcoin holds significant value, despite other collections like Bitcoin Frogs and Bitcoin Puppets debuting earlier.
