Bitcoin NFTs surge in weekly sales, surpassing Ethereum

Bitcoin-based nonfungible tokens (NFTs) have overtaken Ethereum in weekly sales volume, driven by a sudden surge in collections like NodeMonkes.

Weekly sales of Bitcoin NFTs soared by 80% to $168.5 million, with three of the top five best-selling collections based on Bitcoin Ordinals. Meanwhile, Ethereum recorded $162 million in sales, according to CryptoSlam. With three of the top five best-selling NFT collections for the week being Bitcoin Ordinals-based.

Leading the charge was the Uncategorized Ordinals, generating over $43 million in sales across 47,000 transactions. Following closely behind was the Bitcoin-based collection NodeMonkes, with sales exceeding $41 million, marking a nearly 170% increase from the previous week.

NodeMonkes, consisting of 10,000 unique pixelated profile pictures (PFP), launched in December and is touted as the first 10,000-strong collection on Bitcoin. Despite previous 10,000-count Ordinals collections, NodeMonkes gained attention by etching its collection onto the blockchain in February 2023, just a month after Ordinals' launch.

The surge in Bitcoin NFT sales underscores the growing popularity and potential of the cryptocurrency in the NFT space, signaling an exciting development for digital asset enthusiasts.
